Palm Treo 700w will not charge and overheats
Article Details

Last Updated

My Treo 700w will not charge because it overheats. I got it a new battery, but it still charges just a few minutes before overheating and turning itself off. When plugged in, it comes up with a Treo screen and windows will come up for a short time, but then it overheats and turns off. Is this a problem that can be fixed, or do I just need a new phone?

Since you have already ruled out the battery the only other causes would be a damaged / defective charge port or some kind of a short inside the phone possibly due to some kind of water or liquid damage. Both are 85% of the time repairable.  I recommend that you purchase the Palm Treo Charge Port repair service and send the phone to us to diagnose.  Considering that this is a higher pda cellphone I think it is worth to take a look.  Simply click on this link and purchase the repair service and you will receive email instructions on how to send the phone to us: http://www.cellulardr.com/Cell-Phone-Charge-Port-Repair.htm
