BlackBerry 8700c trackwheel repair
Article Details

Last Updated

The trackwheel on my BlackBerry 8700c is clearly broken. I can no longer scroll up or click it in to select anything. Following your tutorial I've taken the phone apart. However, this is where the problem comes: There's a lose gray part that gets in the way whenever I try to scroll up. Scrolling down doesn't affect it. I can't tell where it is supposed to be or how it came loose. I don't know how to get the wheel off without breaking it, or whether the broken piece is even part of the wheel. As I'm a journalist, being without my phone (Even if I can't make outgoing calls) for even a day is simply not an option. So, is this a process you could talk me through and simply sell me the part? Or, if not, is there anyone you could recomend in Southwest Florida to take it to, preferrably in Sarasota County?

I'm sorry but this procedure is hard enough for our trained technicians and impossible to walk someone through in my opinion.  If your phone is that impossible to be without for a few days then I recommend always having a back up phone to use in case of emergencies like this.

You didn't mention who your service provider is so I can't point you to a specific cellphone but we have many to choose from at reasonable prices.  Here is the link:
