I have a GSM Phone and would like to use it overseas on a vacation trip. Can you help to make the phone work there?

Yes you can use your GSM phone overseas if it is unlocked.

The way to find out if your cellphone is unlocked, is to simply put a sim card into the phone that is not with the same service provider that you are currently using.

For example if your current service provider is Cingular Wireless, remove the Cingular sim card from the phone and put in a T-Mobile sim card in the phone.
If it allows you to get into the phone, your phone is unlocked.  If it does not allow you in the phone and it displays something like:

Sim Lock, Wrong Sim Card, Sim Not Accepted, Insert Correct Sim, Sim Error.

This means that your phone is locked to your current service provider and you will have to get the phone UNLOCKED in order to use it with any other GSM service provider.
